Nature in the Home: Wreath

Jolly winter berries intertwined with willow branches and nestled in silvery foliage = the Christmas wreath! I can tell you, wrangling willow branches into a circle and tying them firmly with garden twine was hardy work; I really appreciate the skills of all those 19th century wreath-makers now! We hunkered down yesterday on the shortest day of the year - and wasn't it deep, wintery blue so early? - and listened to carols while making this little token that symbolises strength, courage and hope. Wonderful to mull over at this time of year.

I have loved joining in with Lou and her Nature in the Home series leading up to Christmas. Wishing all the NITH wreath-makers a wondrous festive time.
