Thanking pie

Autumn, fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving all conspire together to nudge me towards pumpkin pie. With my better half hollowing out and carving bulbous tangerine spheres, I just had to use all that earthy flesh to make my 'thanking pie' (pumpkin pie). The spicy clove and ginger aroma was everything a grey windy day spent indoors should be. While said pie was mulling and baking, I pulled out my copy of Mansfield's 'Miss Brill', thinking of that autumn Sunday afternoon that our eponymous Miss spends docile on the park bench, watching life moving, with that living fur companion. Oh, autumn - I do love you.
