Three streets north

I am fascinated by the concept of plant communities, particularly floristically, rather than physiognomically (although the physical structure is intriguing, too). This little series will see me chart the florals over the course of a year in my neighbourhood - the collection of species that I watch grow, die away, seed and spring forth again.

These beauties are three streets north of me, both on the same expansive stretch of street. One is blooming and joyous, while the other is fading and wilting. Both are the overstory canopy and droop, bob and nod at me over their white walls. I love hydrangeas - particularly their colour-shifting abilities, given either a more basic or acidic soil. I do like a metamorphosis of clustering blues, purples, and pinks.
