February hails chilled winds and a flurry of short days. I'm all for partaking in a bit of boozy bottling during wintering time. This ruby-red jar contains moreish cherry whisky perfect for sipping on Sunday afternoons while curled up on the sofa with a collection of vintage letters (I've been reading As Good as a Yarn with You - letters between Australian modernists Miles Franklin, Katharine Susannah Prichard, Jean Devanny, Marjory Barnard, Flora Eldershaw and Eleanor Dark).
If you want to partake in a little tipple, here is the recipe:
Sterilized jars
Cherries
Good quality whisky
Honey
Cinnamon stick
Pack the sterilized jars full with cherries. Drizzle a good couple of tablespoons of honey over the cherries. Break the cinnamon stick into three pieces and insert into the jar. Fill to the rim with whisky.
The cherries infuse the whisky and vice versa. So the longer you leave the jar of goodness, the more potent the fruit gets.
Happy wintery weekends to everyone!
